Avid railfan, railroad historian, and railroad photographer since the early '70s, Verne Brummel offers his extensive collection of railroad slides for your viewing enjoyment on customizable DVD+R discs. Choose from THOUSANDS of slide images from the 1970's and 80's, a revealing look back at some of the greatest trains, locomotives, depots, and rail lines in modern railroading history. Browse your railroads of interest (at left - click on the page numbers, or use the alternate menu further below on the right) to view available images from the collection. More may be added at a later date. The images you will see are small samples, each with a detailed description of place, structure, locomotive type, and date. Simply choose what images you want to purchase, select your disc format preference, and check-out. For the JPEG format disc, the size of a purchased image on a DVD+R (or optional CD-R) will work best with 1600 x 1200 screen resolution, and will fill a screen of that size. Lower screen res settings will also be fine. Images are loose on the disc, with no slideshow software. Use your "Windows Viewer" or "Windows Photo Gallery" if you wish to run a slideshow. Simply right-click one of the images on the disc, select "Preview", and you're off and running. You have two options of disc/format, which are selectable within each page at left. Select the one that works best for you, as follows: "JPEG format on DVD+R" ... Looks GREAT on computer, ability to print from computer, probably won't play on most or all TV set-top DVD players. "JPEG format on CD-R" ... Looks GREAT on computer, ability to print from computer, should work on most newer TV set-top DVD players (depends on compatibility), looks GREAT on TV, might load a bit slower than DVD+R, not as many images can fit on a CD-R (might require more than one disc). The slide images have been color-corrected and improved from their original aging condition (with exception of some minor dirt here and there), and are extremely high quality digital transfers of slides, performed on professional equipment. To sample a variety of random full-size images, click here. .30 cents per image, with a MINIMUM NUMBER OF 40 IMAGES TO PURCHASE ($12). They can be divided up between as many pages at left as you wish. No maximum. All will be burned to at least one DVD+R (or more if needed, or CD-R's if desired) and shipped via 1st Class for free. See below for other shipping options. A small number of images may be duplicated on more than one page. For instance, a GBW locomotive on C&NW tracks might possibly be found in the pages of both railroads. The same is true for photos of stations that may have been served by multiple railroads. Requirements: Microsoft Windows operating system with a drive capable of reading DVD+R or CD-R, or Apple computer with the ability of reading a Windows DVD+R or CD-R disc. All discs are tested before shipping, and work perfectly. If it does not work on your computer, your DVD-Rom drive may be at fault, and may need an upgrade, or your DVD player is incompatible. Note: HP factory-installed drives are well known for being buggy with certain types of burned media. Sometimes it works fine, other times not. Solutions: Restart your computer and try again, as often times the problem is only temporary, or, try it on another computer (or DVD player), or install a better disc drive on your computer. No refunds without permission. As for a disc damaged in the mail, you may return the damaged disc within 2 weeks of purchase for an exchange of the same disc as a replacement. Feel free to e-mail with any questions. These DVD+R's (and/or CD-R's) are provided "as-is", without any express or implied warranty, except where noted above. While you are welcome to print photos directly from the disc, strictly for your own personal use (not for resale), we also offer printing service. Prints may be ordered from any slide image you see on the website, or on the disc that you order. See further below.
